I continue to reference to the first film on Blu-ray, but that one was much more front heavy of an experience. Sound effects come pouring into the soundfield provide a dynamic experience. The depth that was lacking in the original was there with the dialogue. Dialogue through the center channel carried more of a punch sounding clearer. The problem with the earlier films was that the mix was on the low end for the first half of the film. This is a huge improvement over the audio mix in ‘Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2’ as I found the audio to be well balanced throughout. The audio is presented in DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. This is a very atmospheric film that makes you feel like you are a part of this fantasy world. Also the details in the wolves fur stands out too. Details are very well done in high definition on Blu-ray with facial details standing out very well. We do see the use of a muted color palette again here in ‘New Moon’ where whites and grays are very strong. I found the image to be much better looking in both ‘Breaking Dawn’ films over the previous films in the series. The print is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

Movie Content: 8.5/10 Print/Audio Quality The dialogue isn’t the greatest anyways so having to listen to it wasn’t all that fun. There are countless scenes where people discuss things and it’s the same stuff over and over to the point where you’re wishing everyone would just drop dead. I say that because everything here is just building up to the final fifteen-minutes so everything earlier than that is just drawn out dialogue. The biggest problem I had with the film is that it’s simply way too drawn out for its own good.

There’s quite a few problems with this film from some bad performances to the awful CGI and the drawn out story but, again, I doubt fans of the series are going to mind this stuff too much. Having gone through the entire series now, this one here would probably rank as the third in the series after parts one and four but thankfully this isn’t nearly as bad as the second and third entries.

‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ will undoubtedly be loved by the majority of the teenage girls who watch it but everyone else is probably going to be bored out of their minds. This is fine, but hardly dramatic and not likely to have wide appeal. The whole wedding sequence and honeymoon plays like a young girl’s fantasy, sort of idealistic. But these are counter-balanced with goofy moments, one of the most infamous being a psychic werewolf argument. The birth scene was actually intense and gory.

Pattinson was slumming it, but with some of the cheesy dialogue he has to say, even someone like Laurence Olivier would have struggled.Ĭondon does have a few moments of visual darkness, including the dream sequence in the beginning with its juxtaposition of bright white clothing and blood and Bella and Edward standing on top of a load of corpses. Stewart certainly gives it a good go and Lautner gives what is a half-way decent performance. “Part 1’s” strength is that it is the best-acted of the series. Bill Condon attempts to make the sex scene and honeymoon to be tender, but it came off more sappy and overbearing.

Even people who are fans to the series will admit that dialogue has never been its strong suit. A little melodrama is fine, but it goes on for most of the movie, and when there is little hook of a story, it just becomes a drag. There is a melodramatic tone throughout, amplified by the music, whether it was the piano-heavy soft moments, the epic score (often played over non-epic moments), or the emo rock songs. The Quileutes close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses a threat to the Wolf Pack and the towns people of Forks. After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.
